Applications are open for 1 Research Studentship for Master Students, within the framework of project/ 1801P.01565.1.01 AQUALEARN, in the institution IST-ID, reference no. 2023.18249.ICDT, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: Analyses of the effect of different types of anomalies in transient pressure signals, based on an extensive experimental data collection programme in an experimental pipe rig and on numerical simulations.

Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 6 months. It’s expected to begin in February, 2026 and may be renewed.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/fct-atualizou-o-valor-das-bolsas-para-2025/ ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 1040,98, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.


Eligibility criteria

Admission Requirements:To be enrolled in the master degree of civil engineering in the Area of Specialization in Hydraulics and Water Resources.


Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: (i) average grade of the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering in the area of specialization in Hydraulics and Water Resources (40%); (ii) experience in participating in various projects, activities and initiatives in an academic environment at DECivil, IST (30%); (iii) letter of motivation (30%). If necessary, an individual interview may be conducted which will calculate the arithmetic average with the previous curricular component.

Composition of the selection Jury: Prof.ª Dídia Isabel Cameira Covas (president), Prof.ª Marta Sofia Ferreira Martins Mota Cabral (member), Prof.ª Helena Margarida Machado da Silva Ramos (member), Prof. Jorge de Saldanha Gonçalves Matos (member substitute).

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
