Scholarship Theme: Design and thermomechanical analyses of nuclear fusion components.

Objectives
Within the scope of this research grant, the aim is to contribute towards the design and development of nuclear fusion
diagnostics for ITER and DEMO.
 

Work Plan
Currently, IPFN is involved in the development of diagnostics for the DEMO tokamak. These diagnostics include (but are
not limited to) the reflectometers and the magnetic sensors. The candidate will be involved, as necessary, in the
maturation of the current design, performing design activities as well as thermal and structural simulations of the
diagnostics under development. The candidate will also be responsible for the optimization of the diagnostics
performance as well as their structural integrity Furthermore, the candidate will contribute to the design and simulation
of systems for other facilities within the scope of any EUROfusion projects.

Duration: 6 months
Maximum Duration Including Renewals: 12 months

Selection process

Contest Evaluation Method(s)
Curricular evaluation weighted to 100% on a scale of 20 points with a minimum of 10 points needed for admission.
Conditions for the Contest Evaluation
The selection process will rely on the candidate’s curriculum analysis, considering the relevance of their academic and/orprofessional background in relation to the objectives defined in the work plan. Criteria such as the suitability of theacquired education, previous experience in the relevant scientific area, involvement in projects, publications, and otherelements presented in the CV that demonstrate merit and relevant skills for awarding the grant will be considered.Preference will be given to candidates who exhibit proficiency with CATIA V5, ANSYS (workbench and APDL), and whohave manufacturing experience.
