Scientific Advisor: Ana Paula Martins Falcão Flor (ist13814)
Co-advisor(s): Jónatas Valença (ist417176), LNEC.
Organic Unit: Scientific Area of Construction
Scholarship Theme: The work aims the development to monitoring cracking in concrete bridges and viaducts through
computer vision The work is supported by BRISA and will use as case study the viaduct over the Rio de Anços on the A1.
Duration: 6 months
Maximum Duration Including Renewals: 6 months
 

Objectives
Definition of a methodology for identifying cracks in concrete structures, based on computer vision algorithms.
Application and validation on the viaduct over the Anços River, on the A1 highway.
Work Plan
It is composed by the following tasks: (1) state of the art; (2) Definition of the methodology; (3)
Implementation and calibration of the methodology; (4) Validation in the case study; (5) Reporting and outputs (MSc
Thesis and Scientific Paper

Contest Evaluation Method(s)
Curricular evaluation weighted to 100% on a scale of 20 points with a minimum of 14 points needed for admission.
The minimum final grade needed for admission is 14 points.
Conditions for the Contest Evaluation
Curriculum evaluation, considering previous experience on topics related to the grant.
