Offer Description

A call for applications is open for a Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the project “Agenda Drivolution – Transition to the factory of the future”, funded by the “PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and the European Funds Next Generation EU”, under the following conditions:

 

1. Scientific Area:

Industrial Informatics

 

2. Admission Requirements: 

- Student enrolled in a master's degree course in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Engineering, or related fields; - Hold a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Engineering; - Suitability of the candidate's training and experience to the objectives of the work to be developed; - Previous experience in Digital Twin, Internet of Things, Grafana and InfluxDB for creating customized dashboards and metrics pipelines for data analysis, programming in C++ and Python, Intelligence Artificial.

Proficiency in English (written and oral communication) will also be valued.

 

3. Work Plan:

This work plan includes the development of the following main tasks:

i) Definition of an architecture for a digital representation with a digital twin of sensorized surfaces.

ii) Integration of real-time data from Internet of Things devices with data from sensorized surfaces and other correlated information sources in the developed architecture.

iii) Analysis of digitized data with artificial intelligence to recommend specific actions based on deviations from expected operating conditions or optimization of operational parameters.

iv) Development of a user interface for data visualization and recommendations, allowing the user to interact with the digital twin.

v) Writing tutorials, technical reports, and scientific publications.

4. Objectives:

Study and development of a digital twin system to create a digital model of sensorized surfaces, with data integration and processing capabilities for action recommendations, including an interface for interacting with users.

 

5. Applicable legislation and regulations:

Statute of the Scientific Research Grant Holder, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, in its current wording; FCT, I.P. Research Grant Regulations, in force (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/RegulamentoBolsasFCT2019.pdf );

Regulation No. 522/2020, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd series, No. 113, of June 12 – Research Grant Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.

 

6. Workplace and scientific supervision:

The work will be carried out at CeDRI (Research Center for Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics) of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, under the scientific supervision of Professor Paulo Leitão.

 

7. Duration of the grant:

The grant will have an initial duration of 6 months, with a planned start date of 16/02/2026 (with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 18 months, including the initial period).

 

8. Amount of the monthly maintenance allowance:

The amount of the grant corresponds to 1040.98, according to the table of values ​​for grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country.

Grant recipients will benefit from personal accident insurance and, if they are not covered by any social protection scheme, they may ensure the exercise of their right to social security by joining the voluntary social security scheme, under the terms provided for in the Code of Contribution Schemes of the Social Security System. The grant amount will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

 

 

9. Selection methods and their respective evaluation:

The selection methods to be used will be the following:

a) Curriculum evaluation and its suitability for the work in question (40%);

b) Experience, according to the desired profile (40%);

c) Scientific curriculum, considering publications and participation in projects (20%).

The Jury may call candidates for an interview if it wishes to clarify the CV for a better evaluation of the criteria defined in Selection Methods.

The jury may not award the grant if the candidates' classification is lower than 9.5.

 

10. Composition of the Selection Jury:

The Jury will be composed of Doctors Paulo Leitão (President), Luis Piardi (Member), Flávia Pires (Member), and José Augusto Carvalho (Alternate).

 

11. Method of Publication/Notification of Results:

The communications and final results of the evaluation will be published through the IPB application submission portal or, if necessary, by email notification.

 

12. Application Deadline:

The competition is open from January 26, 2026 to February 6, 2026.

 

13. Method of Submitting Applications:

Applications can be submitted through the IPB application submission portal (http://concursos.ipb.pt ), including the following documents:

a) Curriculum Vitae;

b) Academic Certificate;

c) Letter of Motivation;

d) Other documents that are considered relevant for the assessment of the application.

 

Documents proving the holding of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be waived during the application phase, being replaced by a declaration of honor from the candidate, with verification of this condition being mandatory during the contracting phase of the grant.

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.

 

14. Deadlines and procedures for complaints and appeals:

If the decision to be made is unfavorable to the granting of the requested grant, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if they wish, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Administrative Procedure Code.

An appeal against the final decision may be made to the President of the IPB within 15 working days after the respective notification.

Additional comments
