About the position

A research position for one Research Grant (“Bolsa de Investigação“) is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project DECOLLAGE project – DEep COgnition Learning for LAnguage Generation, supported by the European Research Council - ERC COG 101088763.

The work for this position is in the area of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Your required profile

- The PhD must have been obtained in the last 3 years and the research work shouldn't have been developed at IT, along with the other conditions set by the Fellowship Regulation of Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia;

- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent scientific areas

- Excellent academic and practical background in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, large language models;

- Experience in evaluation, uncertainty quantification, explainability, and debiasing;

- The candidate should have good knowledge of written and spoken English, be self-motivated and show initiative in solving problems;

- Strong preference is given to candidates with immediate availability to initiate the work and sound knowledge of Python.

Your current track record of scientific publications, and or project involvement, and student supervision complies with the Productivity Criteria in force at Instituto de Telecomunicações, verifiable from your provided CV.

Benefits

Monthly Salary:

2800€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by Instituto de Telecomunicações.

The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Candidates may be interviewed for clarification of any aspect related to the above criteria

Each criteria, and the final classification F will be evaluated in a scale (0-20). The candidates will be ordered according to:

F = C1 x 30% + C2 x 30% + C3 x 40%

In case of a tie, the tied candidates will be ordered according to C1, then C2...

The Jury has the right to not admit any of the candidates that applied for this position whenever they consider that no candidate meets the minimum requirements for the position.

Communication of the results

Panel's final decisions are disclosed within a maximum period of 90 days.

Candidates will be notified of the final result by e-mail, at the address that was used to register the application.
