ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE AWARDING OF 1 RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

In the R&D Unit: LabCom – Communication Laboratory, in the area of ​​Multimedia Design

 

A call for tender is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant for Master, to develop research in the R&D Unit – LabCom – Communication and Arts (UID/00661/2025), financed by a Program Contract with FCT – National Foundation for Science and Technology, taking place at LabCom – Communication Laboratory, research unit of the University of Beira Interior, www.labcom.ubi.pt , under the following conditions:

 

1. Scientific Area: Multimedia Design or similar.

 

2. Purpose of the activity

Development of research activities in ​​Design, namely development of Visual Identities and Barnding, but also sites and design of platforms and digital contents.

 

3. Admission and hiring requirements

- Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Multimedia Design or similar and meet the conditions to be enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to a Doctoral degree (or in a course not granting an academic degree). The proof of enrollment in the 3rd cycle of studies/Course that not awarding a degree must be produced, mandatorily, until the grant is contracted.

If the academic degree required for this recruitment has been awarded by a foreign higher education institution, the provisions of Decree-Law 66/2018 of August 16, and Ordinance n.º 33/2019 of January 25 apply.

 

Skills:

- Proven professional experience illustrated with portfolio;

- Versatility in illustration;

- Experience developing websites in WordPress;

- Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud tools;

- Knowledge of UX/UI for web and mobile;

- Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS;

- Ability to perform teamwork and shared projects, namely in terms of designing platforms and digital content;

- Organization and management of projects.

 

Valued Personal Characteristics:

- High sense of responsibility;

- Attention to detail and ability to make it evident in the quality of the work presented;

- Ability to adapt to a multidisciplinary team and good interpersonal skills;

 

4. Work plan

1. Design, planning and organization of activities included in the R&D Unit's activities plan.

2. Design of digital platforms and projects associated with editorial activity; design of interactive multimedia resources and development of promotion strategies for new audiences.

3. Preparation of reports and development of scientific production in the area.

4. Support for LabCom promotion in all components of its activity.

5. Follow-up of contact tasks with investigators.

6. Daily presence with defined hours in the facilities of the R&D Unit at University of Beira Interior.

 

5. Applicable legislation and regulations

Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow, approved by Law nº 40/2004, of 18 August, in its current wording (amended by Decree-Law nº 123/2019, of 28 August); Regulation for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology in force (Regulation no. 950/2019) published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241 of December 16, 2019; Regulation of Research Grants of the University of Beira Interior – RBIUBI (Regulation nº 100/2020) published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, nº 27 of 7 February 2020.

 

 

6. Workplace

The work will be developed at LabCom – Comunicação e Artes, located at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior, Rua Marquês D'Ávila e Bolama, 6201-001 Covilhã, under the scientific coordination of Professor João Canavilhas (jc@ubi.pt ).

 

7. Duration and activity regime

The scholarship will last for 12 months, starting between January/February 2026. The activity will take place on an exclusive dedication basis, according to the RBIUBI.

 

8. Scholarship Conditions

A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with Annex I of the RBIUBI, in the amount of €1309,64 according to updated values, which can be consulted at https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores . To this value is added the voluntary social insurance, in case the candidate opts for its attribution, as well as the personal accident insurance.

 

9. Selection Criteria

Eligible candidates will be evaluated according to two criteria:

a). Analysis of the academic, scientific, technical and professional curriculum and the experience related to the skills necessary to develop the work plan (proven experience through portfolio and other documents in the appropriate tools, languages ​​and technologies and referred to in the admission requirements), participation in research and training projects.

b). Interview to analyze aspects related to motivation, availability, commitment, autonomy in carrying out scientific studies, emphasizing aspects related to the project's work plan.

Each candidate will be given a rating from 0 to 20 in each of the above criteria (A, B).

The final classification (FC) will be given by the formula: FC = 0.7xA + 0.3xB

Complaint and Appeal Procedures

After communication of the provisional lists of results in the different phases of evaluation of the recruitment (Admission and exclusion, Curriculum Assessment and Interview), candidates have a period of 10 working days to appeal of the results, in the terms of articles 121 et alia of the Administrative Procedure Code. In the case of submission of allegations, the final decision will be rendered after the analysis of the indictments presented in the prior hearing of interested parties. At the end of the regulatory period of 10 working days, the proposal for classification and final ranking of candidates becomes definitive.
