Offer Description

The Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience at Paris-Lodron-University Salzburg, Austria offers a PhD position for a doctoral candidate/MSCA fellow for the project: “Individual sensitivity to hormone replacement therapy.” The position is part of the EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network MenoBrain “Brain Health in Menopausal Women” with full-time employment for a duration of 3 years, starting in February 2026.

Objective of the project: Results regarding the effectiveness of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in improving global cognition and memory function are controversial. However, individual sensitivity to estrogens and progestogens has not been addressed. In this PhD project, we thus seek to assess estrogen receptor density using positron emission tomography (PET) in relation menopause and hormone replacement therapy and associated changes in mood and cognition.
