Position Summary
Conduct testing using mainly mass spectrometry to perform high-complexity testing in a CLIA-accredited and ISO 17025 compliant clinical and forensic toxicology chemistry laboratory to support both the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the Nebraska Public Service Laboratory (NPSL). Develop, validate, evaluate and implement new methods in clinical and forensic chemistry, following all safety and laboratory policies and procedures, maintain required documentation, maintain instrumentation and required resources, support laboratory training, support research testing as needed, and maintain competency in all designated testing methods. Participates in regulatory documentation, quality control, results reporting, developmental and educational support, communicating effectively with associated clients such as statewide hospitals, private clinical laboratories, and partnering agencies at the local, state and national levels. Works with NPHL and NPSL leadership and staff in the coordination of state and national programs that are relevant to laboratory activities.

Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other laboratory related science field.
(Will accept a Bachelor’s of General Studies and a minimum of five years microbiology or molecular biology experience in a research or clinical laboratory setting)
