Job Description
Responsibilities
- Conduct research that supports departmental efforts to explore the biology, ecology, and management of arthropods affecting agricultural systems, including arthropod ectoparasites and vectors of disease pathogens of humans, livestock, companion animals and wildlife.
- Utilize quantitative methods to construct and analyze systems, identify component interactions, test tactical and strategic interventions or augmentations.
- Develop models that inform decision making for improvements in agricultural systems at appropriate spatial, temporal, and organizational scales.
- Develop and/or lead research teams to respond to internal and external research grant opportunities with the involvement of research faculty from AgriLife Research, as well as other research institutions.
- Engage with other AgriLife scientists and clientele to understand challenges and to share findings.
- Train undergraduate and graduate students.
- Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience
- PhD or equivalent doctoral terminal degree in entomology, forestry, biology, zoology, or related discipline
Preferred Education and Experience
- Postdoctoral experience
- Extensive experience in insect biology and working in teams to address quantitative entomological and/or ecological issues
- Evidence of excellence in peer‐reviewed publication history.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage with stakeholder groups, identify critical issues, and act on those needs through research activities that bring resolution to problems.
- Knowledge and skills in grant writing for support of research.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of arthropod biology and the development of modeling systems to predict occurrence and expansion of arthropods across landscapes of Texas.
- Expertise in service on graduate student committees and mentorship of undergraduate students
- Knowledge and expertise in modern modeling approaches and techniques
- Participation in professional societies.
The Department of Entomology is committed to improving food systems and the quality of life in Texas communities and to provide solutions to current and emerging problems impacting agriculture. The position is in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University and has an expectation to train graduate students in the discipline as a member of the Graduate Faculty.

Administrative Relationship
Supervision will be provided by the Department Head of Entomology and the Director of AgriLife Research. The incumbent faculty member shall exhibit collegiality to all faculty, staff, students, clientele groups, and local administrators. Additionally, the candidate is expected to cooperate and collaborate with faculty (independent of affiliation) as appropriate to the successful execution of their general duties and responsibilities and in support of the Department of Entomology and AgriLife Research’s mission and goals.
