The core mission of American Indian Student Services (AISS) is to provide opportunities that enhance American Indian/Indigenous student success, while also advancing a wide range of objectives aligned with The University of New Mexico's enrollment, retention, and graduation goals for all students. AISS is seeking a Program Success Leader I (PSL I) to assist with a variety of administrative and programmatic support duties while maintaining a robust customer service focus.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Peer Advisement, Customer/Student Service, Project Management & Event Coordination, Mentoring/Recruiting, and Computer Skills. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: providing in-person and telephone general information specific to the department and/or the University; assisting with special projects and programming; conducting group presentations & campus tours; operating various office machines, photographic equipment, and computers; data entry; managing spreadsheet applications; publication layout and development; photocopies and facsimiles; maintaining confidential records and information; and additional job-related duties as assigned. This position requires in-person work at American Indian Student Services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half-time (6) at UNM for Spring 2026 (Audit hours do not count), and, if Work Study eligible, must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and be enrolled full-time at UNM-Main Campus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency/experience:
    Highly motivated individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills and an established record of providing superior customer service is critical to the position.
  • Applicants must possess positive work ethic, initiative, flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
  • Applicants who demonstrate the ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures, and work both independently and as a team member will receive priority consideration.
  • Expertise/competency utilizing Adobe Creative applications (Illustrator, lnDesign, Adobe Express, and Photoshop), Canva, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Internet Navigation is required.
  • Applicants with creative experience producing original photographic content featuring campus life in alignment with UNM Brand Standards.
  • Applicants must be available to start no later than February 16, 2026. Average work hours during the Spring semester are 18-25 per week. Additionally, applicants must be available to work Summer 2026. Average work hours during the Summer semester are 18-25 per week if enrolled in courses for the Summer or up to 40 per week if not enrolled in courses for the Summer, dependent on department needs. Additional assignments and work hours may be assigned. Continued employment through the Fall 2026 semester and beyond will be determined through the department performance evaluation process.
  • Applicants that can commit to the Program Success Leader position for a minimum of one year are highly desirable.
