Post-doctoral research position in Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition, University of Maryland, Baltimore

 

A full-time Post-Doctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Zhe “Zion” Han in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore as of November 1, 2019 (until filled).

 

The Han lab uses Drosophila and human cell lines to study genetic diseases affecting heart, kidney, blood, muscles, metabolism and aging. We combine genetics, epigenetics, biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, and bioinformatics to study the molecular mechanism of disease, identify / validate disease causing genetic variants, and test potential therapeutic drugs based on the disease mechanism.

 

We are seeking highly motivated researchers with a PhD degree in related area, with an interest in developing animal models for human diseases and potential therapeutically treatment. Candidates should have at least 2 years of biomedical research experience, be able to work independently, have critical thinking abilities, and good written and oral English communication skills. Previous experience with Drosophila genetics or bioinformatics are preferred but not required.
