Job Description

The Large-Scale Digitization Project Assistant position will be a 12-month term appointment with a possible extension. Under the supervision of the Director of the IPC & LIBRA, who is serving as Project Manager for Penn’s participation in a large-scale digitization project, the Assistant will be responsible for the preparation of outgoing and incoming shipments. LIBRA retrieval and reshelving work will be done using the Caiasoft Inventory Control software and will require operating a forklift in high-bay shelving.  This project involves meeting monthly targets and specific deadline dates. The position will report to LIBRA in West Deptford, NJ.  

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Retrieve requested material and prepare items for physical delivery. 
  • Apply appropriate project criteria (e.g.: sizing, condition) to selected items.  
  • Charge out items to the project and prepare shipping manifests. Navigate ALMA records and make use of the notes field as required.  
  • Stage items on shipping carts and prepare shipping manifests. 
  • Discharge items returning from digitization and refile discharged items.  
  • Perform routine maintenance of forklift, including charging and watering of the battery. 
  • Work collegially and collaboratively with all LIBRA staff. 

Qualifications 

  • Current certification to operate an orderpicker (forklift) preferred. 
  • HS Diploma required, college degree preferred. 
  • Warehouse experience is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with bibliographic, holding and item records in a library setting. 
  • Familiarity with library systems, in particular Alma and Caiasoft. 
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, show initiative, high-level of attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Basic computer skills in a Windows computing environment. 
  • The ability to move boxes of up to 25lbs and push crates of up to 200lbs.
