Extra-Help IT Analyst - Tableau Developer

Governors State University invites candidates to apply for the Extra Help IT Analyst - Tableau Developer to serve as a technical resource for OIRE. The Tableau Developer will work within the respective areas to develop, to modify reports and to build dashboards, providing connections to new and existing data sources, while preparing data for use in Tableau. The IT Analyst - Tableau Developer performs duties that include extracting, publishing data sources and workbooks, developing custom scripts, as well as performing complex technical duties such as data integrations with R. The IT Analyst - Tableau Developer will be responsible for the creation of moderately complex dashboards and reports, performing data analysis, and supporting data-driven decision-making processes.
The IT Analyst - Tableau Developer will also work collaboratively with all members of the OIRE to assist with data requests, data coordination, the migration of data and workbooks between environments to prepare data for the production environment and outward facing website(s). The role of the IT Analyst - Tableau Developer is to design, develop, publish, test and troubleshoot dashboards and analyze data within the University’s mainframe. IT Analyst - Tableau Developer will collaborate with the Tableau Administrator, Database Administrators, and a future Data Governance Team.

•Construct data visualizations with tableau that are appealing, easy to navigate and comprehensive for end-users to apply basic logic.
•Develop interactive dashboards using tableau tools and assist in maintaining existing Tableau dashboards.
•Secure and maintain the dashboards in the cloud and provide the editor access to specific roles.
•Aggregate data from various sources within institutional research, and/or colleague for the integration into university’s dashboard and reports. 
•Perform Data Modeling in Tableau Cloud and develop reports based on requirements outlined by the office or external agencies.
•Provide Tier 1 support for Tableau issues reported by the OIRE unit or group personnel and monitoring usage report of their Workbooks and Data Sources.
•Create the departmental surveys using Qualtrics and develop the dashboards based on the outcomes.
•Provide support by using R or other software to develop custom programming code to generate summary tables, data listings, graphs, datasets, and derived datasets as specified by various programming specifications.
•Work collaboratively with OIRE analysts and programmers to track enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation trends.
•Create a repository to showcase the tableau dashboards on the OIRE’s website and provide the security to the dashboards.
•Participate in a teamwork environment to fulfill data requests and/or research studies that meet the needs of stakeholders while delivering quality work.
•Interact with ITS and web development teams to make reliable APIs between tableau cloud and institutional web-links.

•An earned bachelor’s or master’s degree in STEM field.
•Minimum 2-4 years of experience in developing and working with Tableau driven dashboards, and analytics.
•Hands-on experience with tableau cloud and tableau desktop.
•Familiar with any of the cloud services (AWS, AZURE, GCP).
•Should have strong problem-solving skills and resolving data quality issues, debugging code, and analytical workflows to meet project deadlines.
•A solid understanding of R, Python, SQL, relational database management system, and data modeling.
•Understanding of advanced calculations and statistical functions.
•Ability to query and display large data sets while maximizing the performance of a variety of workbooks.
•Ability to interpret technical or dashboard structure and translate complex requirements to technical specifications.
•Possess troubleshooting knowledge and data recovery steps.
•Possess knowledge of access management IAM and cloud security.
•Self-starter with a natural ability to balance priorities and work in a lean environment
