As a leader in predoctoral and postgraduate orthodontic education, the NYU Dentistry Department of Orthodontics has long been at the forefront of clinical excellence grounded in evidence-based orthodontics. The department developed a competency-based instructional model focused on critical thinking skills and pioneered the first program to provide predoctoral students with clinical training and experience in esthetic-oriented orthodontic treatment using clear aligners.
The Department of Orthodontics seeks qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will join a diverse and collaborative community of faculty, students, and staff dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service.
Primary responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction in both the advanced education and predoctoral orthodontic programs. Responsibilities also include providing direct chairside instruction and evaluation of student performance; assessing student competency through practical examinations and skills evaluations; mentoring students in proper ergonomics, infection control, and clinical techniques; participating in curriculum development and educational innovation initiatives; collaborating with faculty colleagues in interdisciplinary education; and contributing to faculty meetings, committees, institutional service, and other related duties as required. Opportunities are available for participation in intramural and extramural faculty practice.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position for the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor is $140K - $210K & for the rank of Clinical Associate Professor is $145K - $235K. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
?Candidates must possess a DDS or DMD degree and have completed postgraduate orthodontic education from an ADA/CODA-accredited program. Board certification by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is required. Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a New York State dental license.
A master?s degree and prior experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice are highly desirable.
