| About the Department | The Physics Department provides: (1) High quality Physics instruction to the University community through courses in introductory physics; (2) educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in physics through high quality curricula, faculty, and research programs; (3) outreach programs that advance scientific knowledge. Our research programs cover a diverse spectrum including astrophysics, general relativity, condensed matter theory and experiment, computational physics, biophysics, nanoscale science, physics education, experimental nuclear physics, particle and nuclear theory, and experimental atomic and molecular physics. The department enrolls approximately 110 graduate students and 140 undergraduate physics majors. The department size is approximately 56 faculty members. | Essential Job Duties | The Business Manager will serve as the department’s strategic operations leader, ensuring financial, administrative, and human resource functions support the Department Head’s vision and objectives. This role reports directly to the Department Head, with dotted-line reporting to the College’s Assistant Dean for Culture, Talent, and Human Resources, and the Assistant Dean for Finance and Business Management. Key responsibilities include: Financial Administration / Budget Management:
Business Operations / Strategy & Leadership:
Human Resources & Staff Management (20%)

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience | Requires post-baccalaureate credentials with 5+ years of relevant experience; a bachelor’s degree with 5+ experience including or exceeded by 1-2 years of supervisory experience may be substituted for the advanced qualifications on an exceptional basis. |
