The Hengst lab is interested in compartmentalized signaling events in neurons, especially how signaling pathways originating in axons contribute to the pathogenesis and spread of neurodegenerative disorders. The successful candidates will work on an NIH funded project investigating the cell biological consequences of Sorl1 mutations. The research will be conducted in cell culture models, potentially involving primary neurons obtained from rodent embryos. The project encompasses various techniques, including biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, and microscopy.
