Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts has earned a reputation as one of the country’s outstanding collegiate music programs. The College enrolls approximately 425 students under the guidance of 55 full-time and 25 part-time faculty. Our comprehensive music curriculum features specialties in music education and contemporary music, including the distinctive DMA in Contemporary Music. The College is home to the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music, producing an annual New Music Festival and a nationally syndicated radio program. Essential Functions

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied composition, composition-related courses (including music technology), advising, recruiting, and contributing to the artistic and intellectual life of the College and University. Other duties may be assigned by the Chair or Dean depending upon the needs of the Department of Musicology, Composition, and Theory.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate (PhD or DMA) in Composition, Music Technology, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience composing works incorporating music technology
  • Two years of experience teaching composition and/or music technology at the university level as instructor of record
    Preferred Qualifications 
  • Emerging or established composer of national stature, evidenced by participation in performances, professional organizations, recordings, publications.
  • Evidence of experience in acoustic and electronic composition, orchestration/arranging, commercial music, and/or leading a new music ensemble.
  • Proficiency in digital audio workstations (DAWs), programming languages (e.g., Max, SuperCollider), and sound synthesis.
  • Evidence of engagement in interdisciplinary collaborations.
