Our telestroke network is among the largest in the nation, encompassing 32 affiliated hospitals. With over $15.5 million in annual research funding, OSU Neurology is at the forefront of discovering new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for neurological disorders. Our fundamental research portfolio focuses on neurogenetics, neuroimmunology and neuroregenerative medicine. Our pioneering Division of Neurology Health Services Research and Center for the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience are trailblazers in the field. This year alone, our faculty conducted over 320 clinical trials and studies, supported by a cutting-edge biorepository and brain bank. We're equally committed to education, offering 10 prestigious clinical fellowships and international training opportunities through the OSU Global Neurology Initiative, with partner programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. In 2024, our Neurology Residency Program was ranked in the top 15th percentile nationwide on the Doximity Residency Navigator list. At OSUWMC Neurology faculty participate in a vibrant culture that is actively shaping the future of neurological care and research.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant Professor will contribute to and advance a cohesive neurology health services research agenda in close collaboration with faculty mentors and interdisciplinary partners within the Department of Neurology, the Division of Neurology Health Services Research, and the Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics, and Systems Thinking in Health Services and Implementation Science Research (CATALYST). The position will involve participation in the design, execution, and dissemination of research focused on neurology health services, which may include clinical epidemiology of neurological conditions, comparative effectiveness research, pragmatic and implementation-focused interventions to improve neurologic care, evaluation of new models of neurologic service delivery, and the adaptation or extension of existing health services models to neurologic populations.

In addition to leading components of their own developing research portfolio, the successful candidate will function as a collaborative team scientist, contributing methodological expertise to interdisciplinary projects across campus. Responsibilities may include assisting with grant development, study design, data analysis, interpretation of results, and preparation of manuscripts and presentations. The Research Assistant Professor is expected to actively engage in collaborative research activities, build productive working relationships with clinical and research faculty, and contribute to a collegial and intellectually vibrant research environment.

Required Qualifications

Applicants are expected to have either a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Public Health, Public Policy) or an MD with prior research training, preferably through a Master's Program. Candidates should have a clear trajectory of scholarly productivity and potential for external funding. Applicants should possess methodological training and hands-on experience applying research methods relevant to health services or implementation science and be able to articulate a developing research trajectory with clear plans for continued growth and pursuit of external funding. Successful candidates will demonstrate scholarly productivity appropriate to their career stage, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and participation in funded or fundable research.

Strong written and oral communication skills are required, along with the ability and willingness to work collaboratively with investigators from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for team-based research, adaptability in contributing to multiple projects, and a commitment to advancing high-quality, impactful neurology health services research within an academic medical center.
