The Assistant Director of Health Sciences Advancement plays a key leadership role in advancing philanthropic engagement, strategic communications, and external partnerships for four colleges within the Health Sciences portfolio. Reporting to the AVP of Development, Health Care Education & Sciences, this position works independently and collaboratively to support development initiatives, manage cross-college projects, interface regularly with deans and senior leadership, and contribute to the design and execution of advancement programs. The Assistant Director serves as a strategic partner to academic and advancement leadership, ensuring coordinated messaging, effective office operations, and impactful engagement with external stakeholders in support of institutional priorities.
Primary position responsibilities:
- External Partnerships & Engagement: Cultivate, manage, and steward relationships with external partners, including alumni, donors, foundations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders in support of health sciences initiatives. Collaborate with internal and external constituents to identify partnership opportunities aligned with college and institutional priorities. Support donor engagement strategies, including prospect coordination, stewardship activities, and partnership communications across four colleges.
- Strategic Communications: Develop and implement strategic communications plans that support advancement goals for four colleges within Health Sciences. Responsible for communication and strategy development between the Health Science Colleges and the Advancement Central teams, including annual giving, CFR and donor relations.
Work with the Dean’s and their leadership teams to compile content and work with internal and external writer’s on language and messaging for donor communications, including proposals, impact reports, presentations, and leadership briefings. Ensure consistent, compelling, and mission-aligned communications in collaboration with central advancement, marketing, and communications teams. - Independent Project Management (Four Colleges): Lead and manage multiple advancement-related projects independently across four colleges, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic priorities, using best practices from project management to ensure timely progress on deliverables. Analyze project effectiveness and provide recommendations to enhance advancement efforts and operational efficiency.
- Dean-Level Collaboration: Serve as a secondary liaison between the Health Sciences Advancement office and deans of four colleges. Support deans with Advisory Board members engagement, advisory board planning, and handling communication with members at donor centered events at Belmont. Compile donor briefing materials, and donor-related initiatives. Facilitate communication and coordination between academic leadership and central Advancement teams.
- Program Development & Implementation: Assist in the design, implementation, and assessment of Advancement programs and initiatives that support fundraising, engagement, and visibility goals. Identify opportunities to enhance donor pipelines, alumni engagement, and programmatic impact within the Health Sciences. Support the development of new initiatives and refine existing programs to align with evolving institutional needs.
- Office Management & Operations: Provide operational leadership for the Health Sciences Advancement office, including workflow coordination, process improvement, and administrative oversight. Develop and maintain systems for tracking projects, communications, and partner engagement across four colleges. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, Advancement best practices, and reporting standards.
