Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 23 Feb 2026

The Fellows of University College, Oxford, will elect a new Master in June 2026, to take up office on 1 August 2027 and to succeed Baroness Valerie Amos, who will step down from her role on 31 July 2027.

Founded in 1249, University College – affectionately known as Univ – is one of Oxford’s oldest foundations, combining a rich heritage with a modern, inclusive outlook.  We are committed to academic excellence, merit-based admission, and the tutorial system that defines Oxford.  Today, Univ is home to a vibrant community of undergraduates, graduates, and Fellows, united by a shared pursuit of knowledge and a strong sense of belonging.

The College seeks a Master who will lead and inspire us in our next chapter.  Univ is a dynamic and innovative college that believes traditions thrive when paired with progress.  We have pioneered initiatives such as the Beacon Programme, championing access and diversity in higher education.  Our recent Univ North development reflects our ambition to provide world-class facilities and foster a sustainable, forward-looking collegiate environment.

In our next Master, we seek an individual who will exemplify our mission and values, and bring intellectual stature, a high degree of professional standing, and the ability to shape the future positively.  The role calls for a blend of strategic leadership, policy administration and personal engagement: guiding the College’s direction, fostering collaboration, and representing Univ within Oxford and beyond.  Fundraising and alumni relations are central to the position, alongside a wholehearted commitment to the academic, intellectual, and social life of the College.

We welcome applications from candidates with a proven record of achievement in their field, and the experience and qualities to unite and inspire diverse communities.

The closing date for applications is Monday 23 February 2026.
