Job description:
Could you be our next Creative Media Service Team Lead motivated by the intersection of Digital Learning and Creative Technology? Do you excel at both developing high performing teams and delivering excellent live event production? We are searching for an inspirational leader to strategically elevate our Creative Media Service and advocate for media literacy on a broader scale within the University.
You'll be the strategic force responsible for driving the Creative Media Service forward. Blending technical excellence with educational insight. You will be passionate about using media, from vlogs to podcasts, to enhancing teaching and learning, advocating for its use as a powerful alternative assessment tool.
You will be the catalyst for strategic growth, responsible for:
- Embedding Media Literacy: Leading the strategic development of the service, building vital partnerships with academic staff and Digital Learning teams. You will drive forward the use of media in the curriculum, developing and sharing best practices to improve student learning and assessment design.
- Empowering Our Community: Designing, coordinating and delivering a range of media production workshops, seminars and lectures that directly support student assignments and academic modules. You will also supervise the creation of accessible online support resources for virtual learning environments.
- Service Leadership: You will lead a small, experienced team, ensuring seamless daily operations. From the loan of portable equipment to the effective running of specialist spaces like our TV, podcast studios and edit suites. Your strong leadership skills and critical thinking will be key to creating sustainable support models for the entire university community.
Beyond our educational service, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the technical function that plays an important role in the University's public profile.
- Media Production and Live Events: You will take the lead on producing and directing a wide range of University events, including livestreamed graduation ceremonies, high-profile lectures, conferences and festivals. Your expertise ensures these moments reach a broad audience with professional quality and reliability.
- Operations and Technical Delivery: You will use your proven experience in live event production and knowledge of systems like Tricaster, Blackmagic or vMix to maintain the highest technical standards. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing the service's budget, maintaining the asset register and continually monitoring systems to ensure consistent service excellence.
What We Are Looking For
- A proactive self-starter with outstanding organisational skills to plan resources and prioritise numerous tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and encourage a team.
- Vast experience in live event production and technical delivery.
- Demonstrable ability to build university-wide relationships and collaborate effectively.
