The Department of Computer Science is one of the best in the UK and worldwide for computer science, based on the REF’21 and QS’22 evaluations. In the latest REF (2021) it emerged 1st in England for research power and 2nd in the UK by a measure of the average research score multiplied by the volume of staff submissions. We are a large department, with over 170 academic and teaching staff, and the department sits at the nexus of a broad range of interdisciplinary collaborations across UCL. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  • To teach at undergraduate and graduate level in areas allocated by the Head of Department or Director of Studies and reviewed from time to time by the Head of Department.
  • To carry out research and produce publications, or other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the Staff review process.
  • To carry out research, teaching and administration within the Department, especially in the areas of Computer Systems and Networking.
  • To obtain research funding support.
  • To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
  • To supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate, taught graduate (Masters) or research graduate (MPhil/MRes/PhD/EngD) students.
