About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, College Operations, the Associate Director, Projects and Performance will lead the College of Vocational Education's project management office and performance approach. The role works closely with the College Executive and senior leaders to plan, deliver and track a portfolio of strategic initiatives, enabling the College to achieve its educational, operational and transformation objectives.
This is a highly visible and impactful role suited to an experienced project and performance leader with the credibility and skills to shape strategic execution in a large and complex organisation. You will lead College-wide project management, performance reporting and benefits realisation, providing high quality analysis, insights and advice that support data-informed decision making and ensure the College of VE has a strong voice in University-wide forums.
Key priorities
- Lead College PMO services and provide high level strategic project planning to support delivery of the College of VE roadmap, capital investment and Knowledge with Action initiatives, aligned with RMIT project frameworks.
- Coordinate and oversee a portfolio of strategic and operational projects across the College, ensuring clear governance, effective risk management and realisation of agreed benefits.
- Synthesise complex information and data into clear, insightful reporting and dashboards for the General Manager, College Operations and the College Executive.
- Work across functional areas to drive implementation of strategic initiatives, promoting collaboration and consistent ways of working to achieve successful outcomes and impact.
- Lead high performing teams to embed human centred design principles for change, communication and implementation of projects across the College.
- Develop and maintain performance measures and reporting frameworks that enable data-driven and evidence-based decision making.
- Represent the College of VE on University-wide working groups and forums, ensuring the College perspective is understood and incorporated into institutional decisions.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience leading complex projects and portfolios in large or matrixed organisations, with a strong track record of delivery and benefits realisation.
- Demonstrated capability in establishing and running PMO functions, including project governance, planning, risk management and reporting.
- Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
- Proven ability to work across diverse functional areas, building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders to deliver shared outcomes.
- Experience leading teams and embedding change management approaches in the design and implementation of initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality briefings, business cases and reports for executive audiences.
- A collaborative, proactive work style and strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage competing demands and role model RMIT's leadership values.
