Position description

As a teaching assistant, you will work with us in some of our environmental laboratories. Certain research tasks may also be included in your duties. You will be instrumental in helping to build and maintain our laboratories linked to urban cultivation and energy and resource recovery. You will take samples and assist with measurements. In addition, you will support our research, e.g., in energy and resource recovery from organic waste products (biogas production, hydrothermal carbonization, or hydrolysis), wastewater and crops, water analysis, managing vertical farm setups, track plant growth, and assisting with various forms of data analysis.

Qualifications

Only those who are admitted to an education at first cycle or second cycle level at MDU may be employed as a teaching assistant.

For this position, an upper secondary (gymnasium) education in engineering/technology or science is required. Familiarity with a laboratory environment, and an ability to follow lab safety rules is essential. You will work in an international environment, so good skills in English is required.

For this position we expect that you a student in our engineering program or master’s program in energy (energy technology or energy systems). It's a merit if you have hands-on mechanical workshop skills and a passion for sustainable (urban) agriculture.

In an overall assessment of suitability, emphasis is also placed on personal abilities.
