Job description
Our laboratory has been awarded grants to study host-microbiome interactions at the spatial level in the colon (ERC Synergy) and the impact of spaceflight on the brain gene Swedish Research Council and Swedish National Space Agency). The postdoctoral research activities will focus on bioinformatics analysis of spatial gene expression data as well as other modalities (i.e. microbiome; metabolites, proteins) generated using the Spatial Transcriptomics (ST) method, Spatial metaTranscriptomics (SmT), spatial mass spectromety and CellScape in animal and plant tissues. In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will also apply single-cell multiomics. The postdoctoral projects will have a computational focus.
Within the framework of the projects, we will collaborate with researchers in Sweden, Europe and the USA.
For this purpose, we are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with previous experience in genomics and Spatial Transcriptomics data analysis.
The postdoctoral fellow will be based at KTH, Department of Gene technology, SciLifeLab (Science for Life Laboratory) Stockholm and will be supervised by Associate Professor Stefania Giacomello.
Examples of postdoctoral activities:
- Lead and develop independent research projects in line with the group’s focus
- Design, conduct and interpret computational analyses
- Ensure reproducibility and high scientific rigor
- Drive manuscript preparation and submission
- Present results at international conferences and in consortium activities
- Contribute to review articles or perspective articles
- Communicate and coordinate with national and international collaborators
- Manage project timelines and milestones
- Contribute to grant writing
- Possibly apply for independent scholarships
- Supervise doctoral and/or master students
- Promote a culture of collaboration within the laboratory

Requirements
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.

- Experience in Spatial Transcriptomics and spatial mass spectrometry data analysis.
