Position description
The purpose of the position is to provide the postdoctoral researcher with an early opportunity to develop independence as a researcher and to create favourable conditions for continued academic qualification after completing the doctoral degree. The position is a temporary employment of a maximum of three years.
In this role, you will contribute to research within circular economy, business models and digital services. The work is carried out in close collaboration with several ongoing research projects, including Circul8, SmartCharg, SmartCircle, Converg II, TriLoop, Tested-SoS and ReeDeem. You will conduct research and development together with industrial companies and public organisations, focusing on circular business models, digital servitization and sustainable industrial systems. The position also includes teaching in areas such as digital and circular business models, battery circularity and sustainable product development and production. Teaching may be included up to a maximum of 20 percent of the working time. You are further expected to supervise master’s and doctoral students, contribute to the preparation of research funding applications, and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualification requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in a field relevant to circular business models, digital servitization or closely related research areas. The doctoral degree must have been completed no more than three years before the end of the application period. You must not previously have held a postdoctoral position at MDU within the same or a related subject area for longer than one year.
The position requires the ability to conduct teaching and research in English. As Swedish is the university’s official administrative language, applicants who do not speak Swedish are expected to acquire sufficient knowledge of the language within a reasonable timeframe.
Assesment criteria
For this position, particular emphasis will be placed on research experience related to business models, circular economy and digital servitization. The assessment will also consider documented experience of conducting research in collaboration with industry and other societal actors, including projects involving life cycle analysis, circular systems or industrial applications within the manufacturing sector. The applicant’s publication record in relevant scientific journals and prior experience of teaching within the subject area will also be taken into account.
In an overall assessment of suitability, emphasis is also placed on personal abilities. All employees at MDU are expected to cooperate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the organisation and their own work duties, and contribute to a positive work environment. For this position, we place particular emphasis on strong collaborative skills, the ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned tasks, and an openness to learning and developing new competencies.
We value the qualities that an even distribution of age and gender, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, can contribute to the organisation.
