Offer Description
Keen to push the frontiers of multiphase reactor modeling and accelerate the scale-up of emerging net-zero technologies? Join us at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering !
About us
Our research group at the division of Chemistry and Biochemistry advances multiphase flow and separation science to accelerate industrial innovation and implementation.
About the research project
This project targets the development of advanced grey-box modeling frameworks for multiphase flow systems, combining mechanistic, multi-scale flow models with data-driven inference and uncertainty quantification. This involves formulation, implementation, and validation of novel hybrid models. The study emphasizes methodological innovation, scalable algorithms, and translation to industrially relevant multiphase reactors and separation processes, with strong expectations of high-impact publications and intellectual leadership.
Who we are looking for The following requirements are mandatory:
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
The following experience will strengthen your application:
- A doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
What you will do
- Develop grey-box models that combine first-principles multiphase flow descriptions with data-driven components
- Formulate and implement parameter estimation and system identification methods for multiphase flow models
- Integrate experimental, pilot-scale, or high-fidelity simulation data into model calibration and validation workflows
- Design and run numerical simulations of multiphase flow systems and reactors
- Quantify model uncertainty and predictive confidence, including sensitivity and identifiability analyses
- Compare grey-box models against purely mechanistic and purely data-driven approaches
- Optimize model performance for computational efficiency and robustness
- Document, publish, and present research results
Contract terms
The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.
