Position Description
The Division of Mathematical Sciences, at the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics at Luleå University of Technology, is now looking for a postdoctoral scholar in geometric analysis or mathematical general relativity to contribute to our growing activities.
Project description
The purpose of this project is to conduct research in geometric analysis and mathematical general relativity. In particular, the project aims to better understand V-static asymptotically hyperbolic metrics and their relation to definitions of mass in general relativity. Specific research questions during the project may be adapted to the candidate’s expertise and interests. The scholarship holder will be based in the Division of Mathematical Sciences within the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics at LTU. The project will be carried out in collaboration with Stephen McCormick and is funded by the Kempe Foundation (grant JCSMK25-0130). The tax-free stipend will be 360,000 SEK per year for two years (720,000 SEK total).
Qualifications
In order to be eligible for the position you must have a PhD or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in mathematics (or closely related field). A doctoral degree awarded no more than five years before the application deadline provides a useful qualification. For this project, a successful candidate should have a strong background in geometric analysis, mathematical general relativity, or a closely related area. We seek a motivated and enthusiastic candidate capable of working independently and collaborating effectively within a team. Very good skills in both spoken and written English are essential.
