Offer Description
Are you passionate about integrating a Human Factors perspective in development and implementation of digital technologies in healthcare? Then this position at Chalmers University of Technology might be the right one for you.
Join us as a Doctoral student in the project “AI for Medical Entry and Documentation in Care: Impacts on work environment and healthcare system (AI-MEDIC)”. In this project, we address the critical knowledge gap of how AI is transforming documentation practices in healthcare and its real-world consequences. You will work alongside skilled and supportive colleagues in a rich, interdisciplinary research environment.
About us
The Department of Industrial and Materials Science shares knowledge and their vision of technical solutions for the future industry in a sustainable society. Through excellent research, innovation, and education, we contribute to the development of future industrial value chains.
In the division of Design & Human Factors we offer a dynamic and international research environment. Our work addresses real-world challenges in sustainability, health and safety through human-centered design, ergonomics, and systems thinking. If you are looking for a research community with strong industry links, good facilities, and opportunities for interdisciplinary projects, please consider applying.
About the research project
The position is tied to the project “AI for Medical Entry and Documentation in Care: Impacts on work environment and healthcare system (AI-MEDIC)”.
AI-supported documentation is increasingly being implemented in healthcare. While promising reduced administrative burden and improved access to clinical information, such technologies also bring unintended consequences. This project investigates how AI-supported documentation affects healthcare professionals’ work practices, the work environment, and the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system.
Through combining qualitative and quantitative methods, the project examines implementation processes, system-level impacts, and implications for employees. The project aims to support evidence-based and ethical adoption of AI-supported documentation that enhances healthcare without compromising staff well-being or patient safety. It is carried out in close collaboration between researchers from Chalmers and the Institute of Stress Medicine in Region Västra Götaland.
