The Office of Admissions (OAM) oversees full-time undergraduate admissions, scholarships and financial aid. Reporting to the Office of the Provost, OAM is responsible for formulating and implementing policies and procedures relating to undergraduate admissions, managing the award and administration of scholarships and financial aid for admitted students, as well as marketing the University’s undergraduate programmes.
 

We are seeking a committed and organised professional to join the Scholarship & Financial Aid team as Associate Director. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team, work across a wide range of scholarship and financial aid schemes and contribute meaningfully to programmes that directly support students and the University’s mission.

 

The role combines policy implementation, operational oversight, budget monitoring, and systems improvement, and is well-suited to candidates who enjoy working at the intersection of operations, data, and people. The incumbent will work closely with colleagues across OAM, faculties, and partner organisations, and will be supported by established processes and a collaborative team environment.


Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the administration of a portfolio of University, government and donor-funded scholarships, bursaries, ensuring processes are carried out smoothly and in line with established policies and guidelines.
  • Guide and review the work of the team across areas such as scholarship selection, offers, disbursement, and related enquiries, providing advice and approvals where required.
  • Prepare scholarship and bursary budgets, support utilisation tracking and projections, prepare management reports, and review grant claims for accuracy and compliance.
  • Implement and review of policies and procedures, and advise on appeals and special cases in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide functional oversight of scholarship system enhancements to ensure approved enhancements are delivered to support operational needs in a timely manner. 
  • Liaise with faculties, donors, and external partners on the administration of University, government and donated scholarships, and donated bursaries.
  • Participate in outreach and engagement activities.

Qualifications
  • A good bachelor’s degree from a reputable university
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including experience in one or more of the following: scholarship administration, management of donor-funded awards, or budget planning and tracking; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee operational processes effectively.
  • Meticulous, with strong numeracy, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including staff, faculty, and partner organisations.
  • Demonstrated people management or supervisory experience, with good problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable working with databases or enterprise systems.
