A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship for a bachelor enrolled in a master course (BI), within the Research Project entitled RuraLTHINGS, funded by the PROMOVE Programme, organized by Fundação “la Caixa”, with Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), taking place at the Department of Informatics of the University of Beira Interior https://www.ubi.pt/entidade/Departamento_de_Informatica , under the following conditions:

Objectives: Execution and realization of the work plan within the scope of the RuralTHINGS project.
Work plan:
The work plan encompasses research and experimental development activities to be carried out over a period of 6 months. These activities are subdivided into tasks and are as follows:
– Testing, pilot study, and final evaluation (6 months).

Work location:
The work will be carried out at the Department of Informatics of the University of Beira Interior, under the scientific guidance of Doctor Bruno Miguel Correia Silva (brunosilva@ubi.pt ; bsilva@di.ubi.pt ).
Fellowship duration and conditions:
The fellowship is opened for 6 months, expected to start on february 2026. The activity is in regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the RBIUBI.
Selection Committee: Applications will be assessed by a panel as follows
President: Doctor Bruno Miguel Correia Silva, Assistant Professor at UBI
Vowels: Doctor Nuno Gonçalo Coelho Costa Pombo, Assistant Professor at UBI, and Doctor Pedro Ricardo Morais Inácio, Associate Professor at UBI.
Alternate Member: Doctor Sebastião Augusto Rodrigues Figueiredo Pais, Assistant Professor at UBI.

Publication/notification of results:
The final results of the evaluation process will be published in a sorted list, by the final classification obtained, and posted in a visible and public place of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Beira Interior. The candidate(s) will be notified of the decision by e-mail.

Skills/Qualifications
- To hold a bachelor’s degree in the scientific field of Computer Science or equivalent and meet the requirements for enrolment in a Master’s degree program.
If the required academic degree has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, the requirements of Decree-Law 66/2018, of 16th August and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019, of 25th January, shall be obeyed. The presentation of the certificate(s) recognizing foreign academic degrees is mandatory for the signing of the fellowship contract. The proof of registration in the Master’s degree is required for the fellowship contractualization.

Benefits
A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 1.040,48 € according to the updated values that can be consulted at https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas . The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.
Eligibility criteria
- To hold a bachelor’s degree in the scientific field of Computer Science or equivalent and meet the requirements for enrolment in a Master’s degree program.

Selection process
The selection methods to be used will consist of 2 evaluation phases, as follows:
- 1st phase - Curriculum evaluation;
- 2nd phase - Interview, which can be conducted via video conference. The evaluation in the 1st phase includes the following criteria: Curriculum Vitae / Academic Evaluation (40%); Suitability of candidates' profiles for the project based on relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan (40%); Fluency in oral and written English (20%).
The top 3 candidates with the highest scores after the 1st phase will proceed to the 2nd phase.
For the final evaluation, each of the evaluation phases carries a weight of 50%.

Complaint and Appeal Procedures:
After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.
