Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Lab Manager with proven experience in rodent facility operations, rodent care, and laboratory safety management. The role focuses on animal protocol design & regulatory compliance, lab safety and standard operating procedure (SOP) establishment, and overall laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, solve problems effectively, and support our dynamic neuroscience and bioengineering research.
Core Responsibilities
- Animal Protocol & Facility Management: Lead the design and supervise the preparation of experimental protocols for rodent and non-human primate (NHP) models, ensuring their successful passage through ethical review. This role requiressignificant hands-on experience with rodent facility management and rodent care. A deep familiarity with China's animal surgical regulations and the institutional protocol approval process, particularly for rodents/mice, is essential.
- Lab Safety & SOP Management: Develop, implement, and update comprehensive laboratory safety protocols and SOPs. Conduct quarterly safety training sessions covering chemical handling, biosafety, and emergency drills, ensuring all protocols are rigorously maintained.
- Research Outreach Strategies: Organize annual lab open-house events, draft press releases for key findings, and manage social media promotion.
- Miscellaneous Duties: Handle ad hoc tasks assigned by the PI as well as other duties delegated by laboratory leadership, and participate in cross-departmental meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Master's degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., bioengineering, biology, chemistry, neuroscience) is required.
- Minimum 3-year working experience in laboratory management (preferably across chemistry/biology and neuroscience labs).
- Proficiency in equipment maintenance and compliance protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English and Chinese.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Proactive, trustworthy, and adaptable to a diverse, fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead NHP surgery for chronic neural probe implantation, including post-operative monitoring and care.
- Assist with implantation of chronic flexible neural probes for electrophysiological recording in non-human primates (NHPs).
- Experience with electrophysiological data collection, histology, imaging, and quantitative analysis is a plus.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in neuroscience, neurology, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
- Extensive laboratory experience and confidence in NHP neurosurgery, particularly in chronic electrophysiology probe implantation.
- Strong sense of responsibility, excellent technical and operational skills, and good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.
