Deputy Director of Research

As one of India’s oldest comprehensive cancer centers, the Cancer Institute (WIA), was founded on a simple but powerful belief: “No patient should be denied cancer care because of an inability to pay”. For over seven decades, the Institute has served patients with dignity, equity, and excellence, conducted landmark clinical trials and built a strong translational research foundation.

Responsibilities

(i) In collaboration with the Research and Medical Directors, support the development of a comprehensive long-term vision to establish international leadership in cancer immunology research and formulating strategic plans for its realization.

(ii) Support the establishment of a world-class center of cancer immunotherapy at the proposed new site in Gummidipundi, a suburb of Chennai, adhering to global benchmarks.

(iii) Train the next generation of physician scientists and basic scientists.

(iv) Cultivate partnerships and collaborations on a national and international scale to advance the Institute's vision.

(v)  Spearhead fundraising initiatives to support the execution of research plans.

Requirements

A highly accomplished scientist or physician scientist with long-standing track record of high-quality research.

Experience in cancer immunology research is preferable.

The position will be initially based at the Cancer Institute (WIA) premises in Guindy/Adyar, Chennai, with relocation to Gummidipundi upon completion of facilities. Remuneration will be in accordance with Institute’s policies.
