Service-Learning Manager (Academic Development & Evaluation) (Temporary Appointment)

[Appointment period: five months]

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    assist in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating non-local service-learning and leadership programmes in close collaboration with academic staff;

(b)    assist in formulating and executing strategies for developing and sustaining impactful and sustainable non-local service-learning sites;

(c)    liaise with external and internal stakeholders to develop and support scalable and impactful non-local service-learning projects;

(d)    assist in the professional development courses for service-learning teachers and practitioners;

(e)    assist in the design and execution of qualitative and/or quantitative evaluations on various aspects of the impact of service-learning on students/teachers/the community;

(f)     aid in the writing of and other preparation for scholarly articles for publication; and

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

The appointee will be required to travel outside Hong Kong and occasionally work on irregular hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a recognised degree;

(b)    have at least five years of post-qualification experience at supervisory level;

(c)    have academic research experience and a good grasp of qualitative and/or quantitative methods;

(d)    have substantial experience in supporting overseas programmes and courses;

(e)    have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua;

(f)     have good management, organisational and problem-solving skills;

(g)    be highly motivated and positive; and

(h)    have an outgoing personality and good social skills.

Preference will be given to those with master’s degree and working experience in academic service-learning in the tertiary education sector.
