Duties

The Industrial Centre is a central support unit that provides support for teaching, research, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer to the University.  The Centre is looking for innovative, technology-savvy individuals who love to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    lead a team of engineers working across a range of engineering and technology areas, including information systems, automation, and language communication applications;

(b)    collaborate with academic and technical staff to support teaching and learning, including curriculum development, student supervision, and continuous improvement initiatives;

(c)    oversee project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure high-quality and timely outcomes;

(d)    contribute to the strategic development, operation, and enhancement of the Centre’s facilities, services, and capabilities;

(e)    build and maintain effective collaborations with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. academic departments, industry partners and student groups) to expand the Centre’s impact; and

(f)     perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Centre or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a master’s degree or a higher degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;

(b)    have at least eight years of experience in research or engineering roles, with strong practical expertise in areas such as software development, system integration, robotics, automation, or related technologies;

(c)    demonstrate a proven track record of building teams and delivering complex projects; 

(d)    exhibit good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build partnerships with academic, technical, and administrative clients; and

(e)    have proficiency in both written and spoken English.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
