Offer Description
  • The Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE) of the University of Macedonia, in the framework of the project "A Human-Centred MSaaS Ecosystem for Enhanced Mission Planning and Execution via Battlefield Modelling, Adversarial AI, and Multi-domain Simulation Environments" (BATTLEVERSE), funded by the European Union (EDF), invites interested parties to submit a proposal for two (2) work assignment contracts.

    Position A (Code A) - Postdoctoral Researcher: The associate will participate in the design and implementation of the reference data model to ensure simulation system interoperability. Additionally, they will develop AI algorithms and multi-criteria optimization methods for the decision-making system. Contract Duration: 12 months (with possibility of renewal). Budget: €20,446.41.

    Position B (Code B) - Software Engineer / Researcher: The associate will participate in the development and implementation of Machine Learning algorithms for pattern recognition and automated simulation scenario generation. They will also contribute to the technical evaluation of wargaming frameworks and the encoding of neuro-symbolic logic rules. Contract Duration: 12 months (with possibility of renewal). Budget: €15,334.81.

PhD in Computer Science or related field.

University Degree (BSc) in Computer Science or Electrical & Computer Engineering.

Good knowledge of the English language.


Specific Requirements

Research experience (scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings) relevant to the field of the position to be filled.

Professional experience (up to 20 months) in relevant research and development projects at national and European level.

Oral interview, during which the candidate’s experience in areas related to the advertised position, their ability to communicate effectively and use the Greek language, as well as personal competencies—particularly communication skills, analytical thinking, ability to work collaboratively within a team, and professional conduct—will be assessed. These competencies are considered essential for the position and cannot be adequately assessed through other means.

It is noted that the oral interview aims to assess the candidate’s competence and suitability for performing the duties of the advertised position. The Evaluation Committee reserves the right, following a duly reasoned decision, to conclude that a candidate is unsuitable for the position, even if the candidate formally meets the required eligibility criteria.

Failure to attend the oral interview will result in the rejection of the application, as the suitability of the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the duties of the position cannot otherwise be duly assessed.

Research activity: 0–35 points
(5 points per scientific publication)

Professional experience: 0–35 points

Interview*: 0–30 points
(The interview score for each candidate is calculated as the average of the scores awarded by the members of the Evaluation Committee.)

Total: 100 points

It is noted that failure to attend the oral interview will result in the rejection of the candidacy application due to the fact that the suitability of the qualifications or experience of the candidates for the performance of the duties of the specific position cannot be verified.
