We are seeking two Research Assistants for remote sensing of biodiversity in peatlands.

Job description

We invite applications for two Research Assistant positions that will support ongoing work on peatland forests biodiversity and restoration. The primary tasks include processing GIS and remote sensing data, such as satellite and drone imagery and LiDAR data. The work contributes to mapping of deadwood and bird and ground beetle habitats. The work may also include field activities and other project support tasks as needed.

Responsibilities can be adjusted to align with your strengths and preferences.

Our expectations of the applicant

We are seeking candidates with:
• A strong background in remote sensing
• Excellent computer and software skills (e.g., proficiency in R, Python, ArcGIS)
• Knowledge of forest and peatland biodiversity
• Fluency in written and spoken English
If you are proactive, committed, and efficient, you might be the ideal candidate. You should have completed a master’s degree. Applicants at final stage of their master studies will also be considered. Relevant fields of study include forestry, environmental science, physical geography, environmental technology, or ecology.
