Job Description:

The Department of Architecture at the School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE) seeks employment for a full-time faculty member position at the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Associate Professor of Practice on a fixed term contract, starting Fall 2026, in the area of Interior Design. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Bachelor of Architecture Program at the American University in Cairo, particularly through the department's course offerings related to Interior Design, and to introduce relevant theory and tie aspects of design practices to concepts of interior design and development. She/he will also be primarily responsible for leading and revamping the existing Minor in the "Design of Interior Spaces," and possibly contributing to the establishment of an Interior Design major. She/he is also expected to establish and pursue a research and/or practice focus in the area of interior design, focusing on advancing the practice, theory and impact of the built interior environment.


Requirements:

The candidate must have a Doctoral/PhD Degree or strong professional experience in Architecture or Interior Design. Special preference will be given to candidates having a strong track record of teaching, research and professional practice in Interior Design. Preference will be given to candidates with a North American and/or international similar experience.
