The National Centre for Register-based Research at Department of Public Health at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a postdoc in the field of psychiatric epidemiology and/or statistical genetics as per 1 June 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for 2 years.

The position will be based at the National Centre for Register-based Research, Aarhus University, a leading international research group investigating psychiatric epidemiology and statistical genetics. The centre has a strong track record in collaboration with other Danish researchers and with the international research community.

About the research project
You will join an interdisciplinary team of statisticians, epidemiologists, geneticists, and clinicians, based at the National Centre for Register-based Research, Aarhus, Denmark. The position are funded by various external grants for research projects on the interplay of epidemiological risk factors and genetic factors for causes and courses of psychiatric disorders.
Specific focus areas include psychiatric disorders as well as clinical and social outcomes, but specific tasks may depend on applicants. The positions will generally involve various data analyses using Danish register data and/or large genetic datasets. This may include genetic analyses, causal inference, epidemiological analyses, and clinical prediction modelling using machine learning approaches, and development of computational methods.
Your job responsibilities
As a Postdoc your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance.
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Independent research of high international quality, including publication
- Research collaborations
- Guidance of bachelor’s and master’s degree students
- Contribution to attract external research funding
Your competences
You have academic qualifications at PhD level, for example within the area of psychiatric epidemiology.
We expect you to have some of the following qualifications:
- Computational expertise in analysing large health datasets, electronic health records, UK Biobank, All-of-Us, or similar sources.
- Experience with programming in R, Python, C++, Stata, SAS, or other programming languages.
- Excellent collaborative, communication, and presentation skills
- Scientifically self-motivated and creative
- Ability to work both independently and in structured groups and take responsibility for the complete research process from the idea phase to publication and presentation of results.
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
