Postdoc in Modelling and Optimization of Reactors and Systems for Power-to-X

At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in HYTEC or TEPE with experience in CFD modelling, is open for appointment from 1. December 2025 or soon hereafter. The duration of the position is 36 months.

Your work tasks
The work will especially contribute to projects in the area of modelling and optimization of reactors and systems for Power-to-X, fuel cell systems, and electrolysis and grid connection. Knowledge in system modelling and dynamic thermal modelling is important. The position may also include experimental work on hydrogen and e-fuels.
The position is offered in relation to the research group Hydrogen and Electrofuels and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section for Thermal Engineering.

Your competencies
The research area will be in the field of modelling, optimization, and system integration of Power-to-X technologies, such as electrolysis. In particular, it is beneficial that the candidate has knowledge in:

  • Chemical and electrochemical reactors and thermal systems
  • Thermal integration and control of chemical processes
  • Energy management systems and grid integration
  • Techno-economic analysis for chemical, electrochemical and thermal industrial processes

Proven experience with Mathworks and Aspen+ products is required for the position

Qualification requirements
Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
