Job Description
The research group Advanced Statistical methods and Applications (ASAP) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) develops new advanced statistical methods and their applications in interdisciplinary research directed towards societal needs, with particular focus areas on health research, where being able to explain modelling results is critical to the challenge in question.
Our group offers a research-like environment where we encourage the study of innovative solutions and personal growth. We firmly believe in translational research as means to improve human health.
Job description:
The center is expanding its staff in one of its core areas: software engineering in multi-omics research.
We seek an expert in the following areas:
- Software development for high-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Software development experience using Go, C or C++
- Container and virtualization technology
The successful candidate will become part of the ASAP group. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Designing, developing, and maintaining software to analyze multi-omics data on HPC resources. Participating in the full feature lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architectural design to coding, automated testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring of production environments.
Required qualifications for the position:
- Proven experience in at least two of the areas in the job description.
- Strong background in Linux systems.
- Programming skills (e.g. in Go, C, C++, bash, …).
- Proven ability to work productively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team balancing divergent objectives involving research, code development, supporting software and consulting with scientists.
Other relevant qualifications (not required):
- Bsc in Computer Sciences.
- Experience with DevOps practices (e.g. git and GitHub, continuous integration and deployment, software documentation).
While the positions offer flexibility and the possibility of remote work, the candidates are expected to be on-site in Odense.
Condition of Employment
The starting date for the positions is 1st of January 2026 or as soon as possible. Appointment is for part time position for a limited time period of at least 3 year depending on the external funding situation and the candidate’s profile.
