Researcher with a focus on Instructional Design

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR 

The Department of Information and Library Studies is seeking a Researcher for the OPTAK project . We are looking for an expert to bridge the gap between user research and instructional design. In this role, you will contribute to the development of innovative STEM modules within 3D, VR, and XR environments.

Your objective will be to design and validate learning experiences incorporating elements of gamification and adaptive learning. We are looking for a candidate who will ensure that the education provided is pedagogically effective, user-friendly, and data-driven. MAIN JOB CONTENT 

  • Designing and testing learning scenarios and modules for theoretical and practical STEM education within 3D, gamified, and VR environments.
  • Collaborating on instructional design: conducting target audience needs assessments, designing prototypes, and leading validation efforts.
  • Partnering on UI/UX design to ensure the interface is both user-friendly and pedagogically effective.
  • Supporting pilot implementation: gathering user feedback, evaluating usability, and analyzing learning outcomes.
  • Preparing technical documentation for solution architecture and platform integration (e.g., content structure, user flow/pathways, and research data sources).
  • Developing methodologies, frameworks, and recommendations for implementing STEM-focused instructional strategies.
  • Contributing to dissemination efforts: conducting workshops, delivering presentations, and co-authoring professional publications and outputs.

WE REQUEST 

Professional education, qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree (completed or ongoing)  required
  • Previous experience in the field - advantage 

Language skills 

  • English language skills at least at B2 level.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language in both written and spoken.

Requirements related to job content

  • Experience with instructional design and the creation of learning scenarios.
  • Experience with user research or evaluation of educational solutions (e.g., user testing, interviews, and feedback processing).
  • Strong understanding of didactic principles, adaptive learning, and learning evaluation (e.g., measuring learning outcomes).
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team (research, design, development, and educators).

The advantage is 

  • Experience within a university environment or academia.
  • Experience with educational technology (EdTech), gamification, or adaptive learning.
  • Field experience conducting research with primary/secondary school students and teachers.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design principles, or practical experience with accessibility testing.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary and international teams.
  • Previous experience in academic research or an interdisciplinary background in educational sciences/pedagogy.
