The Department of Botany and Zoology  at the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, is a modern scientific research and educational center specializing in the biosystematic, ecological, and evolutionary aspects of nature. It brings together leading experts from various biological disciplines and provides a base for interdisciplinary research, international cooperation, and high-quality teaching for students at all levels of study.

Job Description

Key Duties:

  • Independent and team scientific work in the field of parasitology
  • Participation in the preparation and implementation of research projects and publications
  • Collection and analysis of biological samples using modern laboratory methods
  • Analysis of biological data
  • Independent presentation of research results at conferences and other professional meetings
  • Participation in domestic and international business trips as instructed by the director of the institute
  • Cooperation with domestic and international partners
  • Active guidance of students and provision of professional teaching

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • PhD Degree in biology or a related field
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language in written and oral communication, including the ability to deliver lectures and conduct teaching in the Czech language
  • Experience with research activities in the field of parasite biology or host-parasite interactions
  • Knowledge of modern molecular biology methods (PCR, sequencing, etc.)
  • Documented international research experience gained during long-term and short-term stays at prestigious foreign institutions
  • Active involvement in international scientific cooperation and joint projects with prominent foreign partners
  • Ability to work independently and think analytically
  • Good knowledge of English (writing technical texts, team communication)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for effective sharing of scientific results, team leadership, and interaction with partners
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members, including providing feedback and supporting professional growth
  • Organizational skills and a responsible approach to task completion
