Dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VSB – Technical University of Ostrava announces an open call for Junior Researcher Positions (R2) for the Department of Robotics

We are expanding our research capacity!
The Department of Robotics is looking for new colleagues: Junior Researcher (R2)

Research Topics
Candidates with expertise in at least one of the following areas are welcome:

  • Robotic and mechatronic system design
  • Soft robotics / flexible mechanisms
  • 3D printing mechatronics / robotic integration
  • Human–robot interaction and ergonomics
  • Automation and robotised workplaces (industry use-cases)
  • Field robotics and harsh-environment robotics
  • Predictive maintenance, sensor systems, multimodal monitoring
  • AI/ML for robotics, perception, prediction
  • Computer vision and data acquisition
  • System modelling and control

JUNIOR RESEARCHER – Responsibilities

  • Participate in R&D tasks across ongoing projects
  • Support experimental work, testing, and system integration
  • Assist with development of robotic/mechatronic systems
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and publications
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Collaborate with senior researchers and industry partners
  • Support the supervision of students (optional)

Suitable for: Early-stage PhD holders, or young researchers starting their career (Ph.D. required).

  • PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, CS, Automation, or similar
  • Experience in at least one listed research area
  • Motivation, curiosity, and ability to learn quickly
