ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

The Department of Natural Drugs is seeking a colleague for the position of Associate Professor with a specialization in pharmacognosy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

  • Creative application of research results in teaching activities, particularly in supervising students in doctoral or master’s degree programmes.
  • Delivery of lectures or other forms of teaching, primarily in master’s or doctoral programmes. Supervision and examination of master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.
  • Acting as a guarantor of a study programme and/or as a member of a doctoral programme advisory board.
  • Participation in committees for doctoral state examinations and doctoral dissertation defences; membership in committees for final state examinations or rigorous examinations.
  • Serving as an external examiner of doctoral or habilitation theses or participation in habilitation or professorial appointment committees.
  • Contribution to publication activities for educational purposes.

Research

  • Conducting basic or applied research of fundamental importance for discipline and publishing the results in peer-reviewed journals or academic monographs.
  • Active participation in national and international scientific conferences and professional meetings and presentation of research results.
  • Review and expert evaluation activities at the national level in the assessment of research projects within the relevant field.

Other Responsibilities

Participation in operational and administrative activities related to the academic position according to the instructions of the head of department, including for example:

  • Routine administrative tasks related to the management of own courses, use of e-learning tools, and communication with students via the Masaryk University Information System.
  • Organization of and participation in international mobility programmes for students and academic staff.
  • Contribution to the promotion of the field.

REQUIREMENTS

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Appointment as Associate Professor
  • Specialization in pharmacognosy - required
  • International publications and successful experience in grant-funded research projects
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience – required

Language Skills

  • English language proficiency at C1/C2 level
  • Excellent command of Czech, both spoken and written

Job-related Competencies

  • Advanced presentation, organizational teaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to transfer research results into teaching practice
  • Ability to independently manage and lead research projects of fundamental importance for the field
  • Ability to conduct independent scholarly publication activities
  • Ability to present research results to the international academic community and the general public
