Offer Description

The Quantum Field Theory (QFT) and Strings Group at the Department of Mathematical Physics of the University of São Paulo's Physics Institute (IF-USP) in Brazil, led by Prof. Gabriel Menezes and Prof. Eduardo Casali, invites applications for a post-doctoral research position in Theoretical High-Energy Physics. This research project aims at developing new theoretical tools involving scattering amplitudes methods across diverse areas of Theoretical Physics, such as Particle Physics, Cosmology, Quantum Field Theory, Quantum Gravity and String Theory. The project also has connections with gravitational-wave physics, with the aim of providing new calculations of key observables, such as waveforms and gravitational radiation. This project also has topics associated with infrared physics, such as celestial holography and related subjects.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Physics and have a strong background in scattering amplitudes in gauge theories, gravity and strings. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a capacity for independent research work, ability to collaborate in the supervision of PhD students and should have a publication record commensurate with their career stage.

The application should consist of: a CV and a list of publications; a description of the research achievements; 3 reference letters. All the documents submitted should be in PDF format. Candidates will be contacted for interviews between February 18th and February 28th, 2026.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
