Offer Description

This call refers to a Post-Doctoral Fellowship associated with the Thematic Project “Development of Photoactive Pigments Derived from L-Tyrosine for Advanced Applications”, funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and currently in progress at the University of São Paulo's Institute of Chemistry (IQ-USP) in São Paulo, Brazil.

The project focuses on the production of natural pigments derived from L-DOPA metabolism, using biotechnological and chemoenzymatic approaches combined with semisynthesis. The research explores synthetic strategies and investigates the relationship between molecular structure and functional properties.

In addition to developing sustainable and biocompatible synthetic routes to designed compounds, the work involves comprehensive structural, physicochemical, and photophysical characterization, with particular emphasis on applications as fluorophores, advanced antioxidants, and sun-protective agents.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD degree obtained within the last 7 (seven) years prior to the start of the fellowship, from a recognized higher education or research institution in Brazil or abroad, with relevant academic production in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.

For detailed information on eligibility requirements, rights, duties, and commitments of post-doctoral fellows, candidates are strongly
encouraged to consult the FAPESP Post-Doctoral Fellowship guidelines, available at: https://fapesp.br/en/postdoc and https://mentoriapd.fapesp.br/bolsista .
