Project overview

The Martens Laboratory (Biochemistry and Structural Biology Research Unit, ULB) is seeking a technician to support ongoing and upcoming research activities, with a strong focus on the ERC-funded project DynamITE – Modulating Drug Transporter Dynamics to Improve Therapeutic Efficacy.

About the lab

You will join the Martens group within the Biochemistry and Structural Biology research unit (~20 researchers), equipped with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and biophysical instrumentation. 

Your role

The technician will:

  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate the HDX-MS platform (Synapt G2, UPLC, Chronect autosampler).
  • Provide technical support for sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Manage the day-to-day functioning of the mass spectrometry facility (scheduling, consumables, maintenance).
  • Assist in project coordination and administrative support for the DynamITE grant (purchasing, logistics, documentation).
  • Support the training of new users and contribute to smooth operation across collaborative projects.
  • Support research projects in the group

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry,  or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, protein purification, or chromatography systems (UPLC/HPLC) is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to multitask and work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage but not required.
