Project Manager Human Data - Data Core

At the VIB Data Core, we empower scientists by delivering advanced infrastructure and services that tackle complex challenges in data storage, management, and computing. We work together with world-class partners, such as the ELIXIR consortium.

One of the key missions of the VIB Data Core is to build a secure infrastructure for sharing and analysing personal data - including human genomic data - in compliance with privacy and security regulations.

As a Project Manager Human Data, you will drive the development of a secure platform for sharing and analysing human genomic data, enabling researchers to work at the cutting edge of life sciences. You will also manage VIB’s activities in European projects such as Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) and Genome of Europe (GoE).

• Lead the implementation of a secure platform for human genomic data in collaboration with IT teams.
• Partner with the VIB Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with legal and ethical regulations.
• Advise and support VIB researchers on best practices for the secure handling and processing of sensitive data.
• Serve as the primary liaison between VIB, national stakeholders and European partners.
• Manage VIB contributions to European initiatives, including the Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) and Genome of Europe (GoE) projects.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in life sciences or biomedical sciences.
• Experience in research involving human data.
• Hands-on experience with human data projects, including privacy aspects.
• Demonstrated project management experience in a research setting.
• Basic understanding of FAIR data principles and data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR), or a strong motivation to gain this knowledge as part of your role.
• A genuine interest in supporting researchers.
• Strong communication, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Een van de kerntaken van de VIB Data Core is het bouwen van een veilige infrastructuur voor het delen en analyseren van persoonlijke gegevens - waaronder menselijke genomische data - in overeenstemming met privacy- en veiligheidsvoorschriften.

Als Project Manager Human Data stuur je de ontwikkeling aan van een veilig platform voor het delen en analyseren van menselijke genomische data. Hierdoor kunnen onderzoekers aan de top van de levenswetenschappen werken. Je beheert ook de activiteiten van VIB in Europese projecten zoals Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) en Genome of Europe (GoE).

• Leiden van de implementatie van een veilig platform voor menselijke genomische data in samenwerking met IT-teams.
• Samenwerken met de VIB Data Protection Officer om de naleving van wettelijke en ethische voorschriften te waarborgen.
• Adviseren en ondersteunen van VIB onderzoekers over best practices voor het veilig omgaan met en verwerken van gevoelige data.
• Fungeren als primaire contactpersoon tussen VIB, nationale stakeholders en Europese partners.
• Coördineren van de VIB-bijdragen aan Europese initiatieven, zoals de projecten Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) en Genome of Europe (GoE).

Vereisten

• Master- of PhD-diploma in de levenswetenschappen of biomedische wetenschappen.
• Ervaring met onderzoek waarbij menselijke data wordt gebruikt.
• Praktische ervaring met projecten rond humane data, inclusief privacyaspecten.
• Aantoonbare ervaring met projectmanagement in een onderzoeksomgeving.
• Basiskennis van FAIR-data principes en regelgeving rond gegevensbescherming (bijv. GDPR), of een sterke motivatie om deze kennis op te doen binnen de functie.
• Oprechte interesse in het ondersteunen van onderzoekers.
• Sterke communicatieve vaardigheden, een samenwerkingsgerichte instelling en het vermogen om met diverse stakeholders te werken.

• Werk op het kruispunt van life sciences en geavanceerde data infrastructuur, met toegang tot de nieuwste Europese initiatieven.
• Samenwerking met een gepassioneerd en multidisciplinair team met een sterke connectie met toonaangevende instellingen in life sciences en gezondheidszorg.
