YOUR TASKS
- You spend at least 90% of your assignment on scientific research.
- You will be involved in a research project that is focused on the development of experimental biopharmaceuticals in oncology.
- You will be responsible at completing the data package that is required for technology transfer at optimal valuation.
- You will work in the biopharmaceutical experimental medicine subteam of the Unit of Medical Biotechnology at the VIB-UGent Center for Medical Biotechnology and will interact with multiple other research teams within the VIB and the CRIG as well as international collaborating teams.
- This position involves tasks where exposure to biological agents may occur. Upon employment, health surveillance will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Belgian Codex on Well-being at Work.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You possess a thesis-based doctorate in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or Bioengineering Sciences
- You have experience in mouse models
- Strong background in mouse handling and mouse models in general
- Strong background in cancer models
- Experience with primary human cell work is an advantage
- You have a strong background in experimental medicine
- You have extensive research and technology innovation experience with translational biomedical projects
- You have experience coordinating complex projects in collaboration with various academic and industrial partners
- You have experience in the development of biopharmaceuticals
- You have experience in protein production and running several cellular assays
- You have hands-on experience in tissue culture and advanced flowcytometry
- Experience with human primary cells is an advantage
- You have an affinity for protecting intellectual property through patents and collaborating with industry
- You have a Felasa C certificate
- You are able to operate highly specialized equipment and to carry out complex experiments and non-standard techniques
- You have sense for planning, organization, initiative, accuracy and detail, responsibility
- You can work autonomously while having strong team player skills
- You are a creative, collaborative person with a hands-on attitude and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads.
- You can show some flexibility in your work
- Effective communication and writing skills, along with a good command of the English language, are essential for successful selection.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period from 12 months. Further funding depends on the progress of the research and the success of future project applications.
- Your contract will start on 1/01/2026 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales .
